How it works

One question, both languages.

A search takes a question the way you would put it to a colleague and returns the cases that answer it, with a summary of each.

  1. Ask in English or Greek.

Type the question in plain words. If you name a judge, the search runs only inside that judge’s decisions.

  2. NeoLaw widens the query.

It detects the language, adds the Greek or English terms of art and picks out the key terms, so an English question also finds Greek judgments.

  3. The cases are ranked.

A language model scores each candidate against your question. The strongest matches are listed under Relevant, the rest under Other Results.

  4. Each case gets a summary.

Result cards appear as soon as the search returns, and the summaries stream in while you read.

  5. Read, brief or ask.

Open a judgment in full in a side panel, ask for a one-page brief, chat with a single case, or ask a follow-up about the whole set.

Case brief

A one-page brief, with the quote checked.

Ask for a brief and NeoLaw writes one page from the judgment, covering the parties, facts, issues, holding, reasoning and legal basis, the cases it followed or distinguished, and a practical takeaway.

The key quote is kept only if it appears word for word in the judgment. Briefs are saved and shared across your firm, so a colleague who opens the same judgment sees the same brief. Each one carries a reminder to check it against the full text.

FAQ

Cyprus case law search FAQ

Which Cypriot courts does NeoLaw cover?

The Supreme Court with the Cyprus Law Reports from 1883, the Supreme Constitutional Court, the Court of Appeal, the Administrative Court of Appeal, the Administrative Court, the Administrative Court of International Protection, the district courts in civil and criminal cases, the Assize Courts, the family, labour disputes and rent control courts, and the Juvenile Court. It also holds decisions of the Tender Review Authority and the Commission for the Protection of Competition.

How far back does it go?

The earliest judgments are in the Cyprus Law Reports from 1883. Supreme Court judgments of the Republic run from 1961 to this year, and district court judgments from 2005. The coverage table on this page lists the years for each court.

Can I search in English and find Greek judgments?

Yes. Most recent judgments are in Greek. NeoLaw adds the Greek terms of art to an English question and the English terms to a Greek one, so one search covers judgments in both languages. Summaries come back in the language of your question.

How is this different from searching CyLaw?

CyLaw is the public source, and NeoLaw’s corpus is built from it. NeoLaw adds a search that takes a question in plain English or Greek, translates terms of art, ranks the cases by relevance and summarises each one. Every result links back to the judgment on CyLII.

Does it search legislation too?

The case-law search is built for judgments, and statutes can appear in the results when your question is about them. For a question that needs both, ask the Legal Agent, which searches legislation and case law and cites both.

Can I rely on the summaries?

Use them to decide what to read. Each summary is one to three sentences written by a language model from the judgment. Read the judgment in full before you rely on it. A brief’s key quote is kept only if it appears word for word in the judgment.

Can I narrow a search?

Yes. Filter by court tier and by date, sort by relevance or by date, choose hybrid, semantic or keyword search, and set the depth from 10 to 250 cases. Name a judge in your question and the search runs only inside that judge’s decisions.

Where do searches run?

In the standard setup, case-law search uses a cloud AI model to embed your question and write the summaries. With strict private mode on, search, ranking and summaries run on NeoLaw’s private model in Limassol. An administrator sets the mode for the whole deployment.
